I am privileged to have had the chance
to be the first to make them Great Grandparents,
by blessing them with Brandan and Justan.
Although, we are sad that Grama never got to meet
Justan, I know now that Grampa is telling her all
about the new weeone and how his lil ears
would make a heckofa bowl o'soup!
"Aint he a DANDY! "
I will always see Grama & Grampa
in the sparkle of my boys eyes.
Ironicly, with his passing,
Easter was Grampa's favorite time of year,
probably because he loved the little ones
so much and enjoyed their everloving joy of life.
Always having us "hunt" for the eggs, even on a rainy day.

Poem from Cheryle
from George

Don't stand beside my grave and weep,
For I'm not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond's glint on snow
I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the gentle autumn's rain
When you awaken in morning's hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circle flight
I am soft stars that shine at night
Don't stand beside my grave and cry
I am not there. I did not die.

As children
My brother and I took turns with Lloyd and Cheryle travelling on the train between Victoria and Courtenay
or we rode in a truck with our parents—a trip that would take most of the day it seemed.
There was a reliable festive mood whenever we arrived at our Uncle George and Auntie Laura’s home on
Carroll Street—lots of hugging and kissing and food!
I believe that Lloyd and Cheryle inherited Uncle George and Auntie Laura’s creative talents.
Uncle George’s was expressed in large spaces.
He had an artistic eye for shapes and textures in salvaging and collecting
materials and artefacts from buildings about to be demolished.
He could create unique and delightful new constructions with the recycled discoveries.
I am blessed to have had loving parents and the love and respect expressed between our family and
the Uncle George, Auntie Laura, Lloyd and Cheryle family.

"There's always a place for you in the garden of my heart
I'd never let another in this place I've set apart
Memories of our yesterdays blossom brightly too
And forget-me-nots are going there, always for you!"
Goodbye sweet George
Pie will never be the same again !

What a gift…
A man of few words,
He had a big heart and loved to see people happy.
Loved little children and Pie.
Worked too hard, played too little.
He will always be a champion in my eyes.
A wonderful teacher.

As he stood at the doorway to heaven
God says, Come in Geo,
and George responds;
That Would Be A Capitol Idea !
